Abstract     Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) is present in Slovenia and has been diagnosed for more than 15 years. Epizootiologic research of hantaviruses in Slovenia revealed that HFRS is endemic in particluar geographic regions, where smal mammals infected with hantaviruses were found. Two hantaviruses were found as a cause of HFRS: Dobrava and Puumala virus. This fact reflects itself in two diseases of different severity and also in different antibody response in human patients.
