Abstract     The purpose of this presentation is to provide an overview of headache diagnostic management. In evaluating a patient with the headache, the first task is to identify or exclude secondary headache based on the history. The neurologic exmination helps us to prove the symptoms and reveal neurologic signs. The general medical examination can provide signs of systemic diseases. In the initial evaluation, the physician looks for "headache alarms" that suggest the possibility of a secondary headache disorder. A comprehensive history is therefore usually the most important tool for making complete and accurate diagnosis. Though taking a headache history can be time consuming and frustrating, time invested at the initial assessment facifitates diagnosis and is a good opporiunity to establish a relationship with the patient.
