Abstract     A basic statistical data of emergency medical service in Celje from march 1986 to february 1990 are presented. The service is organised within general medicine and for all kinds of out-of-hospital emergencies. On the territory of 819 sq kilometers with population of 130.000, 6750 interventions weremade and 1589 were for traffic injuries. An average respons respons time for traffic accidents was 10,5 min and an average transport time was 19 min. 67 per cent of all victims on the territory was treated by emergency medical service. The division of patients by clinical field, emergency stages, year and month frequency, age and sex is represented. The importance of physicians presence at the site of an accident and a rational organisation of the service is emphasized.
