Abstract		The activities of the University Institute of Occupational, Traffic and Sports Medicine and an evaluation of the regulators in the fields of safety working time and health prevention in railway traffic were presented with regard to the massive railway accident in Divača. It was concluded that a number of traffic safety regulations, especially in the field of safety in railway traffic, are incomplete, out of data and do not consider recent findings in traffic medicine. The introduction of recent scientific findings, including the findings of medical science and traffic medicine, in the practice of all branches of traffic is a precondition for their accelerated technological development and improved economic efficiency. In this connection, very important tasks are given to modern regulations, which must follow recent findings of all sciences - including traffic medicine.
