Abstrakt		The Section of medical biochemists at the Pharmaceutical Society of Slovenia was established over 20 years after the new branch - medical biochemistry had been introduced in Slovenian health institutions. The founding meeting of the Section was held on October 2, 1961 in Ljubljana. The first part of our historic review has been dedicated to the time before the establishment of our Section and the second to the first decade of its functioning, whereas the third part describes the time from mid '70s on. In November 1978, the Section changed its name, thus becoming the Association of Medical Biochemists at the Slovenian Pharmaceutical Society. As a professional association it has the right to join other equal or similar professional associations abroad.
