Abstract     Background: Management of injuries and minor surgical procedures are neglected area in some family practices. Aim: The aim of this paper is to present the circumstances in the management of trauma patients and minor surgical procedures in family practice and to prepare draft guidelines in the field. Results: Trauma patients account up to 10% of workload in family practice. Approximately 3% of office visits is followed by minor surgery or other intervention concerning trauma patients. Physicians in bigger cities in practices close to the surgeons' offices less often execute such procedures. Conclusions: With concerted action of all involved parties there is room for improvement in this field.
