Abstract		The article presents the results of the joint public health campaign for the prevention of skin cancer and other UV-induced skin damages and diseases called the "Sun Prevention Center". During the 2002 campaign we collected 1397 answered questionnaires in Slovenia and Croatia. which we analyzed statistically to obtain an insight into the habits of people in the sun and into their awareness of the importance of photoprotection. We were able to conclude that sun exposure is still exaggerated and uncontrolled in both countries. mostly due to the lack of knowledge about the harmful effects of UV-rays and the damages that they cause on the skin. The behaviour of children and young adults in the sun is even more alarming, therefore we believe that the education of the public on this topic is of crucial importance in the future and that a great deal of effort should be focused on the education of young generations by performing carefully planned sun prevention campaigns, which will include the joint cooperation of specialists from the fields of medicine and health, pharmacy, education, and media.
