Abstract		The paper deals with the research results of factors and measures of a successful management in nine Slovenian hospitals, where took part 76 managers and 201 employees, working within different professional areas in hospitals. Managers in the observed hospitals don't have an idea about the successfulness of their management, because their self-estimation of their management success was higher from the estimation done by their employees. On the basis of factor and regression analysis an explanation model of factors and measures of a successful management of the managers was developed. It shows that a successful management is most(y explained by personal behaviour factors of the managers. For establishment of the elements of a successful management some hospitals started with Business Excellence Model. Study shows that with the introduction of this model there is no difference in achieving successful management and basic TQM principals among the observed hospitals. Study shows that there is no shortcuts to a successful management and achieving business excellence.
