Abstract     Hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovacular diseases, which are the main cause of morbidity and mortality in the dialysis population. High blood pressure is frequent and difficult to control in the dialysis population. Available therapeutic options to normalize blood pressure in these patients include dietary salt and fluid restriction in combination with reduction of dialysate sodium concentration. Anti-hypertensive drugs should be used when, despite the patient being at hist dry body weight, blood pressure values are not adequately controlled.
