Abstract | Detection of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) is very complex and novel field. The most accurate analysis are done by molecular methods like PCR and Real time PCR. With this methods the presence of GMOs can be determined on the basis of specific genetic elements which are characteristic for GMOs, as well as the quantity of GMOs, what is important because of the labelling regulation on the presence of GMOs in food and feed. Immunological methods are also possible, as strips or as ELISA. Since more and more GMOs are comming on the market, new accurate, fast and cheaper methods should be developed. Detection of GMOs is very intensively developing area, therefore it is important that the laboratory providing GMOs detection is included also in the research in this field. | |
