Abstract     Secretory otitis media presents the most frequent cause of hearing loss in children. The treatment also includes surgical theraphy - ventilation tube insertion - in case the conservative one does not achieve the desired effect. Grommet insertion is considered one of the world's most frequent surgeries at children age. The study dealt with 3427 patients (6237 ears) treated during a twenty year periode (1984-2003) at ENT Department, City Hospital in Belgrade, showing all types of complications folowing this surgical procedure, their frequency, origin mode, as well as treatment possibilities.
