Abstract     Alcohol and other intoxicating substances abuse increased in Slovenia in the last few years. Police Officers more and more often order a medical expert's examination for the injured person due to estimate his/her psychophysical condition. A medical expert's examination consists from medical examination, alcohol estimation and taking blood and urin specimens. A medical examination is made by a doctor - traumatologist, a registered nurse cooperates by taking blood and urin speciment by the doctor's order and authorization. We have standarized kits for forensic taking blood and urin specimens in Slovenia. The blood specimen is taken by standard procedure but the skin must be prepared with no-alcohol wipes. The urin specimen is also taken by standard procedure; we don't catheterize a patient just to get the sample. The enclosed form should be completed correctly. The Police Officer should be physicaly presented all the time during blood and urin speciment taking, but despite that the patient's intimacy must be assured.
