Abstract     This article indicates the way in which the seizures and excessive ethanol intake are related and the frequency of each in the relation to other. There is a general agreement, that excessive alcohol intake can increase the frequency of seizures in epileptic patients They should be warned about the possible adverse affects of alcohol Although there are several factors (e.g, head trauma, metabolic effects of alcohol) in provoking seizures in alcoholics, alcohol withdrawal is the most important. Tonic-clonic seizures with epileptiform type characteristic may occur in more than five percent of untreated patients. Both clinical and experimental evidence support the existence of a kindling mechanisem during alcohol withdrawal. The severity of withdrawal symptom increases after repeated withdrawal episodes
