Abstract		Background: The antibiotics that can be mixed into the bone cement are listed and the features that are needed for safe applications in the cement are discussed. The elution kinetics are presented as well as the influence on antibiotics on the features of the bone cement, Conclusions: The clinical aspects of the role of the antibiotic-loaded bone cement in therapeutic and prophylactic applications.
