Abstract		Drug misuse and addiction prevention in local community should be based on collaboration between different experts, institutions and individuals with the key role of establishing such life conditions, in which the need for drugs will be limited. The main condition for good collaboration is global understanding of drug misuse and addiction, expertise on dissemination range and characteristics of drug use and a unified programme on prevention, treatment and rehabilitation in the field of drug misuse and addiction in local community. In the field of primary prevention, Local action groups for drug prevention have shown good results. In general, their activities are orienteded in programmes that encourage self esteem of' children and young people.
