Abstract     The experience of pain can be defined only in terms of human consciousness. As with all sensory experience, the patient cannot share unpleasant experience. There is therefare no absolute qualification of pain experience; it can only be estimated by verbal or magnitude scaling methods. Very frequently it is caused by peripheral neuropathy. Model for such small nerve fibre neuropathy is diabetic neuropathy, in western, developed countries the most frequent. Psychophysical test determine the relationship between the physical world and people's subjective experience of that world. We assess intensity, quality and duration of perceptian and this helps us by diagnostic procedure, evaluation of treatment and quality of life. In article, the visual analogue scale used in our outpatient clinic is represented. The rules for assessment of patients with small nerve fibres neuropathy are writen.
