Abstract | Article 80 of the Law on Health Care and Health Insurance states that the insured person has, in addition to a personal general medical practitioner, free choice of a personal gynaecologist and a personal dentist. For insured persons up to the age of 19 years, the personal doctor is a paediatrician or a specialist for school-aged children, exceptionally a specialist family medical practitioner or a doctor with postgraduate studies in the health care of women, children and adolescents. The European Regional Office of the WHO cites in its directives, that health is a basic human right and that person has the right to the highest possible standard of health. The European Association for Outpatient Paediatrics has set a standard, that children under the age of 18 years must have a paediatrician as their primary care medical practitioner. | |
