Abstract     Classically, pain sensation and suppression has been attributed exclusively to neuronal circuits. Today we have evidence on immune system participation in pain modulation. Immune system and nociceptive system are connected with cytokines and opioid peptides. Immune cells under stress stimulation migrate to injured tissue and release opioid peptides. That gives to immune system a new dimension, beside antigenic and microbial protection, it protects us against pain.
