Abstract     The general economic situation of an individual is the basic foundation of the social security. The fundamental measures of the social politics are thus aimed at creating the required conditions under which the individuals can ensure the social security to themselves and their families on their own. The state is according to the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Slovenia obliged to regulate the mandatory health insurance, the insurance for pension, the disability insurance and other types of social insurance, and at the same time protect the institution of a family, motherhood, fatherhood, the children and the young people, by creating the necessary circumstances for this protection. The field of social security is one of the areas of social safety and is based on social justice, solidarity and the principles of equal accessibility to forms and a free choice of them. The system of services and contributions, which are developed and assured by the social security, is intended for the special protection of the most vulnerable groups of population and for the assurance of assistance with survival of those who are out of reasons we have no influence over not able on their own to provide the funds for their living. The Law on Social Security is the basic regulation, which defines services and financial social aids as the rights of social security with preventing and solving the social problems of individuals, families and groups of population.
