Abstract     There is strong scientific evidence that food affects health. Slovenian do not consume very healthy foodhealthy food, though the situation is improving comparing to the general request. It is manly due to health education and food processing industry that improved the concept of healthy food lately. As many as 12% of inquired Slovenian almost never enjoy vegetables; they manly eat green salad, potatoes and tomatoes. We eat less of all the other sorts of vegetables, in mean once a week. The food that should be protective against many diseases like the heart and vessels diseases, cancer, rheumatoid diseases and diabetes, many allergic diseases and others, should contain at least 400 grams of vegetables a day. The vegetables should be a part of every meal! Healthy food intake with vegetables promotes good health and protects us against many diseases. As no sort of vegetables contains all the necessary substances for the normal functioning of the body it is crucial to eat miscellaneous and heterogeneous sorts of vegetables.
