Abstract		The diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) depends primarily on clinical manifestation of the disease. Until recently, the only serological marker routinely used was the determination of the rheumatoid factor. A circular peptide containing citrulline (CCP) was found to be better at discriminating RA patients. We evaluated the diagnostic value of anti- CCP anribodies in patients with autoimmune systemic diseases. In concordance with previuos reports, we found that the presence of anti-CCP antibodies is highly sensitive (88%) and specific (98%) for the diagnosis of RA.
