Abstrakt | Objective. The problem compliance with the PHT like with any other preventive procedure has been a huge problem. This problem has become even more serious with the publication of the results of the WHI study. As everywhere in the world, in Slovenia also has been a large decrease in usage of PHT from the year 2001 to 2003. Therefore, in order to see if we could improve the compliance with PHT, intervention in a way of lectures was made. Methods. We present the 12 month follow-up of prospective, randomized, controlled and multi centric trial, of prescribed PHT, which included 125 women and gynecologists in 6 medical regions in Slovenia. The women were randomized in 2 groups of which one (study group) was listening to educative lectures on menopause and prevention of its possible consequences. In order to gather feedback information, the women were asked to fill in 3 questionnaires (before PHT, with every medical control (every 3, 6, 12 or 24 months) and after the lectures. The filled in questionnaires were sent to the head of the research who stored the gathered data into a special (Microsoft Access). From that database, the data were transferred to program for statistics (SPSS for Windows v 12.0, SPSS Inc, Illinois). Chi-square, t-test and Mann-Whitney test was used for comparing the groups and the data gathered within the groups. The results were analyzed according to the principle "intention-to treat". The Cox proportional model of risk was used for the final analysis. Results. The incidence and the prevalence of PHT in Slovenia for the year 2002 was 12,4% and 6,4%, respectively. The usage of hormonal therapy (HT) has been reduced in Slovenian for cca 20% in the period from 2001-2003. The women invluded in the research were in both groups at the average 48,5 years of age.
