Abstrakt | The possible ameliorative effect of selenium (Se) addition via the leaves on UV-B treated common buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) was monitored during a three mounth field experiment in a Botanical garden Ljubljana (altitude 320 m 46degrees35'N, 14degrees55'E). The common buckwheat was exposed to two levels of UV-B radiation: ambient UV-B radiation and enhanced UV-B radiation (correspondending to a 17% stratospheric ozone reduction). In week five, plants were spayed with 1 mg/l selenium solution. At the end of the experiment moxphological experiment analyses were performed. Enhanced UV-B radiation negatively effected the aboveground biomass and the number of seeds. We also obtained the interaction between Se and UV-B radiation on aboveground biomass, number of seeds. | |
