Abstract		Corticosteroids (prednisone, prednisolone and dexamethasone) play a significant role in the treatment of hematologic and oncologic diseases in children. They are also useful in managing some of the complications of cancer and oncological treatment. Drug doses used in haematology/oncology are much higher than those used for the treatment of other diseases, and hence there are more frequent complications of corticosteroid treatment.
Summary		Kortikosteroidi (prednizon, prednizolon in deksametazon) so ena najpomembnejših zdravil za zdravljenje hematoloških in onkoloških bolezni pri otrocih in mladostnikih, pa tudi zapletov zaradi osnovne bolezni ali zdravljenja. Uporabljajo se v visokih odmerkih, kar povzroča pogostejši pojav stranskih učinkov.
