Abstract		Treatment of different pulmonary diseases with inhalation and volatilization is known for more than 5000 years. In history we meet different types of that treatment. In last few decades inhalatory therapy has become very important way in treating mainly obstructive pulmonary diseases. The "revolution" in inhalation therapy was achieved with developing new kinds of drugs and new inhalers, especialy for treatment of asthma. The most commonly used inhalers are metered dose inhalers (MDI) and dry powder inhalers (PDI). In future we expect inhalatory therapy to become applicable also in treating other diseases, since the lungs present a possible route of administration of drugs for systemic use.
