Abstract     Due to the high morbidity worldwide - and our country is no exception - ischemic heart disease and its consequences are among the leading problems faced by the health services. On account of a better understanding of the risk factors and due to progress in treatment, the mortality rate has decreased in developed countries. However, due to the aging population the need for more precise diagnostic procedures in treating ischemic heart disease is increasing. Noninvasive diagnostic procedures are thus very important when selecting patients requiring revascularization procedures on the coronary arteries. Noninvasive procedures include nuclear medicine myocardial perfusion studies, which allow the evaluation of myocardial perfusion and function.
