Abstract		Nutritional and metabolic derangements are highly prevalent in patients with chronic kidney disease and patients on renal replacement therapy and significantly affect high morbiditly and mortality rates. Multiple factors of uremic malnutrition are encountered during predialysis stage and during chronic dialysis therapy. Diminishing the lean body mass and increasing the percentage of body fat is typical for this group of patients. Uremic malnutrition is a major comorbid condition in chronic kidney diseases and all efforts should be made to try to understand better and treat these conditions in order to reduce mortality and to improve quality of life in these patients.
