Abstract     Conservative (or nonsurgical) treatment of spinal injuries was till 20th century the only method of treatment. Despite blossoming of the surgical methods, it is still the most frequently used method of treating injuries of the spine. Because of medical (anatomy, physiology and biomechanics) and for practical purposes (use of imobilisation devices and methods, allowed daily activities and physiotherapy and rehabilitation) there is division to treatment of the injuries of the cervical and thoracolumbar spine. In the case of osteoporotic vertebral fractures it was up to 21st century and advent of minimal invasive surgical methods as vertebroplasty and baloon kyphoplasty, nearly only method of choice.
