Abstrakt		In a group of 79 patients with Reinke's edema of the vocal folds, the etiology of the disease and particularly of the recurrent disease was assessed. The data were obtained from the patients' histories, the findings of ENT examinations and allergy testing. The results of the study showed that a combination of several factors acting simultaneously is crucial for disease recurrence. The role of type I allergy is probably as important in the etiology of the first occurrence as in the recurrent disease after surgical treatment.
