Abstract		Reactor Engineering Division of the "Jožef Stefan" Institute and the Clinic for Infectious Diseases of the University Clinical Center Ljubljana proposed joint project "Hazard control and risk management". It is concurrent with the goals of the Slovenian Society for Medical Informatics and as such presented at this meeting. The research project has several goals: - direct contacts and cooperation with the ongoing UN (UNEP, WHO, IAEA, UNIDO) Inter-Agency Programme on the Assessment and Management of Health and Environmental Risks from Energy and Other Complex Industrial Systems, - transfer of the methodology proposed for assessment of population risks to Slovenia, - broader participation of domestic institutions in the research project to establish risk evaluation for the planned development scenaria, - establishment and operation of the Slovenian population risk databank. The research proposal includes the assessment of the population risk due to the operation of the Krško nuclear power plant,
