Abstrakt     Enteric infections are an important public health burden with high morbidity and mortality worldwide, particularly among children living in the developing world. At present, effective vaccines are available against rotaviruses, typhoid fever and cholera. Only vaccines against typhoid fever and rotavirus enteritis are currently available in Slovenia. Vaccines against some other important infectious agents responsible for human enteric infections are also being developed, including vaccines against illnesses caused by caliciviruses, enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli, Shigella species and Campylobacter. This article presents a review of vaccines against human viral and bacterial enteric infections already in use or in the development phase.
