Abstract     Background. The crossmatch and antibody screening of the patient's serum prevent hemolytic transfusion reaction in general, in some rare occasions it still does occur. Problems and conclusions. In most cases it is not of the severe type, we must identify it and specify the red cell antibody. Anti-Jka (anti-Kidda) antibodies are frequently the cause of such hemolytic transfusion reactions. Authors present three cases of such anti-Jka antibodies presence and stress the importance of knowing the particulars in the case of every patient planned for future red blood cell transfusion. Based on these the authors point out the fact that absolutely safe transfusion can never be provided so strict indication rules are to bo implemented for transfusion.
