Abstract     Background. In towns like Kutina, with increasing envinonmentpollution, there is much concern as to the effects of pollutants on the health of the population. The connection is particularly often investigated in case of increased inc dence "f cancer. Materials and results. The comparative analysis ofdatafrom the Cnoatia Cancer Registry on cancer incidence in Kutina, the netghboring communities žn Moslavina and the whole of Croatia did not confirm such a connection. On the contrary, the incidence ofcancer was even higher in the control group, but reduced after standarization, depending on the demographic difference in the population. Conclusions. Most frequent cancer types are lung cancer in males and breast cancer in females. Second on the list is stomach cancer in both genders. The third place hold the neoplasms of genitalia; there is an increase in incidence of cervix uteri cancer in Moslavina, but it is independent on the location of chemical industry.
