Abstrakt | Catecholamines represent a large group of interesting compounds. Epinephrine (E), norepinephrine (NE), and dopamine (DA) are endogenous compounds, essential because of their cardiovascular, bronhodilator, neural and other effects. Their etiological role is most clear in pheochromocytoma (tumor secretes catecholamines directly into the bloodstream). The explanation of a large number of disorders in cardiology, psychiatry and neurology is considerably more difficult. This has led to the development of clinical techniques based on measurement of catecholamines and their metabolites. Several methods have been described for plasma catecholamine analyses which include either indirect radioenzymatic assays or direct determinations. Direct methods include highperformance liquid chrornatography combined with amperometric, coulometric, or tluorometric detection, radioimmunoassay and gas chromatography combined with mass spectrometric or electron capture detector. This paper describes one of the radioenzymatic methods for simultaneous determination of E, NE, and DA in human plasma. | |
