Abstract		The medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) is the most important static stabilizer of the patella. It guides the patella into the patellofemoral groove in the first 30 degrees of flexion. The first patella dislocation always causes rupture of the ligament. MPFL insufficiency may be responsible for recurrent patellar dislocation. The ligament can be successfully reconstructed using different techniques and differents autografts. The paper describes our modified and improved Steensen's technique and presents the postoperative rehabilitation protocol.
