Abstract     The corneal test for detecting the presence of the rabies virus in vitro may also, according to the obtained results, be used post-mortem. We detected the virus in the corneas of foxes, a martem and a badger. It is a quick and easy method, which does not require any special equipment or premises. The descernability of the slides depends on the state of material brought in to be tested. The best results are obtained from fresh and freshly frozen material. Difficulties in connection with discernability arose in cases where the material had been frozen after it had already started to decompose.
