Abstract     In the study conducted among 878 adults in Slovene population a determination of glucose concentration in serum was made. The pattern has been chosen upon severe criteria, namely as a result of sistematic preventive medical examinations. Results shows statistically significant differences between the sexes in the whole group as well as in the individual age groups. Men in the average reach higher values than women. The differences between the sexes are statistically significant for the whole pattern and in the two age groups. In the age group "older" the averages of the two sexes are closer and the difference seems to be statistically nonsignificant, while the differences between the age groups are statistically significant. It has been found that the average middle values of glucose increase with age. The comparison between the obtained values for glucose concentration with the reference values used in Slovenia (3.6-6.1 mmol/1) shows a slight difference: in our study the results are 3.8-6.2 mmol/1 for the whole population.
