Abstract		In view of the qualities of ciprofloxacin, notably its potent antimicrobial activity against a wide range of bacteria, good penetration into tissues and abscesses, favourable pharmacokinetic profile, availability of oral and parenteral formulations, low toxicity, low level of resistance development, and good compatibility with other antibiotics, we have decided to conduct a clinical trial of the efficacy and safety of ciprofloxacin in the treatment of surgical infections.
