Abstract | Proper medical documentation has always been of the upmost importance for data analysis as well as for drawing conclusions in dentistry. The necessity of recording quantitative parameters is imperative, especially for clinical studies and research. Unfortunately, Slovenian dentistry was marked for a long time by the use of a patient history chart on which only finished restorations or various treatment procedures (OZS d.d. Form 8.1). were entered The aim of our work was to facilitate the entering, searching, filtering, processing, and storing of various data, which continually accumulate in always to small archival sites. At the same time it was al so our intention to support clinical dentists with quick schematic orientation and clear checkups from several statuses, especially when many treatment visits were necessary. We developed a new, innovative, and accurate data acquisition system for patient database management, as well as diagnostic and statisti cal processing of various dental, endodontic, osseointegrational, orthodontic, periodontal, prosthodontic, and oral and systemic health conditions. The central part of the system is a computer database that includes patients' general, dental, oral, and medical data. The program for its operation was developed by Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and MS Access, which is integrated in the MS Office suite. By exporting data to MS Excel, astatistical data analysis could be finally applied to describe the importance of model parameters and other medical data included in the diagnostic process. Applied analysis gives insight into acquired general, dental, periodontal, and other data and thu s helps model the phenomena taking place in the oral cavity. | |
