Abstrakt		Several aspects characteristic of disorders of sleep and wakefulness in adolescents, either araising de novo or having been present in childhood, are discussed in relation to the developmental framework, which may define the type of disorder, the adolescent's complaints and readiness to accept professional help. The relatively rare but not too rarely recognized disorders of narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia are described in more detail. The need for an adjusted medical and psychosocial approach is put forward. Short case descriptions are included for illustration.
