Abstract		The origin of nutritional abnormalities in AIDS patients is multifactorial, and attributable to varying degrees and in different combinations in individual patients to one or more of the following mechanisms: voluntary alteration in dietary intake, anorexia, intestinal malabsorption, increased catabolism of body stores, and the redistribution of nutrients associated with the responses in acute phase of the disease.
