Abstract		Special emphasis is given to the forms of secondary prevention and their relevant positive effects and especially to the side effects of badly prepared preventive actions. The main part of this article is devoted to the results of the international multi-centric study which was performed with financial support of European economic community and was designed to analyse the viewpoints of general practitioners about the prevention. Separately is presented the analysis of viewpoints about smoking prevention in the Slovenian sample of physicians smokers and physicians non-smokers which has demonstrated the expected differences between the two groups. The conclusion brings the recommendations for a good organizing of preventive actions on the level of general practitioner, resulting as a consequence of this international project.
