Abstrakt     The course of rabies in an ewe is described and dicussed. The clinical phase lasted 12 days before a lethal end. Clinical symptoms were so ancommon that the right diagnosis could easily be missed. Souch conditions raise the danger that the people tending the animal got infected. The incidence of rabies in sheep is very low. Four cases are known in Slovenia during the last 15 years. In our case we had a rare chance of observing and recording the course of this deadly ailment. Non-specific symptoms we documented include: sexual disorders, agitation, bleating, and some unusual motions as: backward glancing, lifting of the front limb, bumping with the head against the wall. We find it important to point out that the animal was not aggressive. Inappetence and paresis of mastication muscles occurred not earlier than 3 days before death. The senzory functions of the animal remained clear up to the end.
