Abstrakt		The article deals with some fundamental areas in the development of personality in the transition from mid to late adolescence. At the beginning of the article, the concept of adolescence is defined and an attempt is made to accommodate it in a chronologically determined age period in accordance with different theoretical approaches. Then, the basic developmental task of an adolescent, that of forming a self-image, is considered. The remainder is dedicated to the study of this phenomenon. The authors took as research samples French as well as Slovenian youth and identified age differences for the two groups separately. Due to the statistically relevant age differences between the samples, the authors could not carry out a comparative analysis, however, they did propose some orientations for further research.
