Abstrakt     During 1994 180 pre-hospital cardiopulmonary resuscitations were performed by doctors of the General Emergency Department on internistic and traumatological patients in Ljubljana. In 86 cases pre-hospital CPR proved successful, i.e. patients were taken to hospital with basic vital functions present. In most cases the final result of treatment was extraordinarily poor. With interestic patients this is caused by the irreversible ischemic damage to the central nervous system due to a long arrival time. In trauma patients the craniocerebral injury together with damage to other internal organs and locomotor apparatus usually decides patient's chances and fate.
