Abstract     Recognition and early management of spine trauma is vitally important to reduce the effect of this potentially devastating injury. Since cervical spine injuries occur in 1.5-3% of all major trauma cases, which are associated with numerous other injuries, high level of suspicion is necessary. Mechanism of injury and certain associated injuries are prime indicators of CSI. The contemporary trauma care focus on airway management, oxygenation and ventilation, and hemodynamic stability. Cervical spine protection must be maintained throughout all procedures, using manual immobilization. Every patient with suspected CSI must be immobilized on long-board or vacuum mattress, with cervical collar applied and his head immobilizied.
