Abstract     Weneger's granulomatosis (WG), systemic necrotizing granulomatous vasculitis, is classically diagnosed according to the typical clinical findings and characteristic histological lesions. Lately, the disease is connected with the finding of anticytoplasmatic antibodies against neutrophils (ANCA) in the sera of patients. ANCA are autoantibodies causing a diffuse, granular staining of the cytoplasm of neutrophils using a standard indirect immunofluorescence technique after fixation of the leucocytes with alcohol. Theoretical principles and methodology of the test are shown in the work. High nosologic sensitivity and great specificity of ANCA test in establishing the diagnosis, in assessing the intesity of the disease and monitoring of the response to therapy is comparatively prooved.
