Abstrakt     Izhodišča: Namen raziskave je bil ugotoviti, kakšni sta moč in spretnost rok pri pacientih po amputaciji spodnjega uda ter njuno morebitno povezanost s starostjo in prisotnostjo sladkorne bolezni. Zanimalo nas je tudi, ali lahko z delovno terapevtsko obravnavo pri teh pacientih izboljšamo moč in spretnost rok. Metode: V študijo smo vključili paciente po amputaciji spodnjega uda, ki so bili v obdobju od 1. januarja do 31. decembra 2020 prvič sprejeti na Oddelek za rehabilitacijo pacientov po amputaciji. Ob sprejemu in odpustu smo izmerili moč stiska obeh rok s digitalnim dinamometrom in opravili oceno spretnosti rok s Testom devetih zatičev. Rezultati: V raziskavo smo vključili 118 pacientov (82 moških), starih od 38 do 91 let (povprečna starost 68 let). Starost je bila ob sprejemu in odpustu srednje negativno povezana z grobo mišično močjo in šibko povezana s spretnostjo dominantne in nedominantne roke. Med bolniki s sladkorno boleznijo in tistimi brez nje ni bilo razlik v povprečni moči rok, sladkorni bolniki so bili v povprečju manj spretni. Zaključek: Rezultati raziskave kažejo, da se s starostjo pacientov po amputaciji spodnjega uda groba mišična moč in spretnost rok slabšata. Prisotnost sladkorne bolezni ob sprejemu je povezana s spretnostjo dominantne in nedominantne roke. Z delovno terapevtsko obravnavo sta se moč in spretnost rok rahlo izboljšali.Background: In spite of the importance of good hand function for patients after lower limb amputation, we could not found any study on this topic. Therefore, the aim of our study was to determine the grip strength and dexterity in these groups of patients and possible association with diabetes. We also wanted to find out if the occupational therapy program can improve hand grip and dexterity. Methods: All patients admitted to primary rehabilitation after lower limb loss at our Department for Rehabilitation of Patients after Amputation between January 1 and December 31, 2020, were included into the study. At admission and before discharge we measured grip strength with Jamar digital dynamometer and evaluated dexterity with Nine Hole Peg Test. Results: We included 118 patients (82 men), from 38 years to 91 years old (average 67.9, SD 12 years). At admission and at discharge, there was moderate negative correlation between age and grip strength, and weak negative correlation between age and dexterity. There was no difference in average grip strength between patients with and without diabetes, whereas patients with diabetes had worse dexterity than those without it. Conclusion: We found out that grip strength and hand dexterity in a group of patients after lower limb amputation decrease with age. On average, patients with diabetes mellitus scored lower in dexterity of both hands at admission in comparison with patients without diabetes mellitus. Their grip strength and hand dexterity improved slightly after occupational therapy program.
