Abstrakt		In this article we are trying to present abilities of Electronic Data Interchange in the field of health care. Some elementary recognitions and definitions of foreign authors are stated in the introduction. The central part is the description of the most important projects in this field from abroad. At the end we call the reader's attention to the many opportunities of Electronic Data Interchange in the field of health care in Slovenia. The necessity of consideration of foreign experience when defining and realizing projects is pointed out. Above all the importance of state istitutions in these projects is stressed.
