Abstrakt | Active immunization is the most effective prevention of infectious diseases. The goal of vaccination is to increase the immunization rate in the community and to provide a high degree of preotection with the lowest rate of untoward effects. To reach this goal indications and true contraindications must be carefully considered. The immunization rate has been additionally improved by advisory service and various specialists who precisely define indications and contraindications. The authors analyse reasons for vaccination in a hospital, illnesses and conditions occurring in temporal association with immunization procedures and reasonsforthe use of pneumococcal and inactivated poliovaccines in the period between January 1990 and December 1994. The authors conclude that the advisory service provided by the Department ot Infectious Diseases plays an important role in determining indications and contraindications for routine and special childhood immunization and they recommend the continuation of these activities. they recommend the continuation of these activities. | |
